What is Color Temperature?

Color temperature in video refers to the characteristic hue of light, which is measured in degrees Kelvin (K), and is used to describe the color of light emitted by a source. In video, color temperature is used to describe the warmth or coolness of the light that is illuminating the scene being captured.

In video production, different light sources have different color temperatures.

For example, sunlight has a color temperature of around 5600K, while indoor lighting may have a color temperature of around 3200K.

The color temperature of a light source can affect the way colors appear on camera, and can be adjusted to create a desired look or mood.

Adjusting the color temperature in video can be done through the use of filters, gels, or adjusting the white balance on the camera. A warmer color temperature can create a more inviting and comfortable mood, while a cooler temperature can create a more clinical or sterile feel. It is important to choose the appropriate color temperature for the intended effect and to maintain consistency throughout a video production.
